Priorities
Our priorities are grounded in one belief: children learn best when students, educators, and communities are supported, connected, and working together toward every child’s success.

Advance Student Learning
Every child deserves a strong start, great teaching, and real pathways into college and the workforce. Students thrive when we focus on early literacy, high quality instruction, and safe, supportive classrooms that build a true sense of belonging. I’ve spent the last 25 years developing strong curriculum, supporting teachers in deeper learning practices, and leading programs that strengthen student mental health and serve students with a wide range of needs.
As County Superintendent, I will prioritize
✅ All students reading at or above grade level by third grade
✅ High-quality instruction and deeper learning in every classroom
✅ Strong mental health and wellness supports for children and families
✅ Effective county-run programs, including K–22 Special Education and Court and Community Schools
Invest in Educators
Every educator deserves real support, strong preparation, and the respect that comes from investing in their growth. Great teaching doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when we recruit talented educators, build strong pathways into the profession, and provide high-quality learning that actually strengthens classroom practice. I’ve spent my career hiring and developing educators, leading countywide professional learning, and expanding programs that help build a diverse, stable workforce in San Mateo County.
As County Superintendent, I will prioritize
✅ A highly-skilled educator workforce that reflects our community
✅ High-quality professional learning aligned to real classroom needs
✅ Supportive conditions and community partnerships that help educators build lasting careers here

Unite for Student Success
Every community deserves schools that are safe, supportive, and connected to the resources children and families need to thrive. Strong schools do not exist in isolation. They grow from real partnerships with cities, county agencies, labor partners, community organizations, and families working together. I’ve led countywide efforts on immigration response, food insecurity, mental health supports, and cross agency coordination because our students do better when the whole community is working in sync.
As County Superintendent, I will prioritize
✅ Strong partnerships with families, community organizations, and local leaders
✅ Countywide coordination on safety, wellbeing, and rapid response
✅ Clear, accessible services that connect children and families to the support they need
